FY07 Exchange Network Project

by GoMODP last modified May 11, 2011 09:42 AM

Exchanging Environmental Data for the Gulf of Maine. This project was completed in July 2010.

In November 2006, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services applied for an EPA Exchange Network grant on behalf of the Gulf of Maine Ocean Data Partnership (GoMODP). All partners were offered the opportunity to participate in the grant application process. A total of 9 partners officially joined in. In October 2007, the grant application was approved and work began in the summer of 2008. The project was completed in July 2010.

The purpose of this project was to enable exchange of monitoring data between the partners in the GoMODP (now NeCODP) according to the Environmental Data Standards Council (EDSC) standards and in alignment with the Water Quality Exchange (WQX) schema using Exchange Network protocols. The schema was developed by the partners (called the ODPX), and data from the partners was submitted via a node or node client to the host node developed by GoMOOS (now GMRI), the host of the GoMODP(now NeCODP). GMRI developed the back end database to accept data from these various sources and incorporated the data into a custom built web application. This application is useful in displaying where monitoring has occurred and for what parameters; thereby enabling determination of where monitoring gaps exist and sampling collaboration is possible.
